Cheesy Song of the Day, February 27: ‘Crying Like A Church on Monday’ The New Radicals

Standard

The New Radicals may have been marketed as a band but singer/songwriter Gregg Alexander was the only person that mattered to me.  And I think that’s the way he wanted it.

I don’t remember how their debut album, Maybe You’ve Been Brainwashed, Too?  came into my life.  I do remember laughing at Alexander cursing at Marilyn Manson & Courtney Love on the track ‘You Get What You Give.’   And marveling that Danielle Brisebois‘ co-wrote ‘Someday We’ll Know‘ with him.  Yes, Danielle Brisebois, the songwriter is the same Danielle Brisebois who starred as Archie Bunker’s niece on All In the Family.

This was my album of the year because of every song spoke to the many moods of 1998 but ‘Crying Like A Church on Monday’ hit me the most.
